I hope you've already had a good trawl around the forum, used the search facility as dandywarhol suggests and read lots of other posts, but I will just reiterate what is said many hundreds of times on the forum that the Bongo's temperature gauge is as much use as a chocolate teapot and sits at "11 o'clock" until the Bongo has overheated so catastrophically that damage is likely to have been done.

Unlike many on this forum whose advice on the technical/mechanical/engineering front has been invaluable to so many of us, I've got the technical knowledge of a soap dish and short of checking levels, tyres etc I leave anything else to a mechanic but you do need to get a Bongo specific alarm fitted.
