Nice photos, we have lots amazingly similiar! The one your missing is of the Barra flight landing in front of your Bongo. I took it from the Eriskay ferry, that was where we rushed off to that morning. I'll get them uploaded. Nice literally bumping into you round most corners!

Brilliant pics Harry and Trish ,i have probably seen every beach and standing stones on Harris and Lewis with dabs and bigdaddy over the last few years, the black houses you visited where they at Arnol ? because that is where my bro used to live until earlier this year, then he moved down the coast to Earshader.

The tour guide at Arnol was actually born in the Blackhouse - lovely lady with a story to tell.

Lovely pictures, looks like you went to many of the same places we did. Two weeks of touring round proved to us that the bongo is the perfect vehicle to do it in (and having a cobb to cook on helps )
Can't wait to go back next summer, and considering the terrible weather we had it hasn't put us off one bit!!

Interesting that so many people on here have visited the Outer Hebrides this year - anything to do with the Scottish Government subsidising the ferry fares I wonder

There seems to be a number of locals (mainly incomers) moaning about the number of campervans wild camping this year - unfortunately there's always the few who spoil it by leaving their rubbish behind.....................

The cheaper ferry fares were certainly a consideration for us although they were only cheaper on two of our 30+ ferries I think We have been to the Hebrides a couple of times before, many years ago and I fancied another look, armed with much better research and causeways to Vatersay, Eriskay and Berneray.

I think the locals were more bleating about the white buses that Scanner and Morag have , us mere mortals with campervans do at least have to buy stuff from the shops so do contribute to the local economy - especially when we chicken out and book into a B&B

What an amazing place! And thank you Harry & Trish for sharing your pictures with us. Was it a green bongo that waved to you out of Stornaway? He's a nice bloke, he had a shock when he came out of the late shop and was greeted with 3 bongo nuts when we bumped into him there last year! what a very memorable and beautiful place... I took this pic whilst sat admiring the view in Arnol...

Heading for the early ferry at Loch Ranza it was a lovely surprise to see the deer.

The deer at Lochranza are a bit of a mobile tourist attraction!

These were taken July 2008 at the Ferry Terminal.

Was in Arran this August too and and used the Lamlash and the Lochranza camp sites. I agree that the midges were bad at Lamsplash - very sheltered and the ground was so wet too - a German motorhome got stuck in the mud and had to get towed out by tractor - no such problems for 4WD Bongos . By contrast, at the Lochranza site, we nearly got blown away - loads of broken tents there - the wind was howling off the sea, past the castle and being funneled up the narrow glen!

Hi, we did go there the previous day but never saw any. My daughter would have flipped if she had seen them like that. Your pics are amazing. Thanks for showing them. We thought the ground at Loch Ranza was no better but the toilet block was very nice.

BDC: she is always a beautiful site and takes a lovely photo no matter what backdrop you use, though that is a particularly good one. Keep up the polishing and don't forget you promised me a master class. Can't remember the colour of the bongo just the nice cheery wave, not many waving anymore.

We were on Arran at the beginning of June last year. Stopped at the site in Lamlash, no problem with the midges then but it was very quite at the time so we found it boring. Moved on to the small site at Kildonan where there are very few hook ups so we could not get one. At least it was right next door to a good pub where we were able to have an excellent meal.
