Grex, you have described exactly what happened to mine after I put rather a lot of KTC soya oil in the tank. Just wouldn't do hills or pulling away smartly.
Have you done something similar?
Cured immediately (touch wood) by filling to the brim with neat diesel.

Re: Help! Bongo power loss
That'll probably be to do with the egr & turbo, can't remember specifics, but it's a reasonably common thing with em from when I was looking into them.Trebormint wrote:Sorry, no advice I'm afraid but I'll interested to hear a successful outcome as my sister seems to be having the same problem with her Ford Galaxy (auto box).
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Thanks again for all the replies.
A mechanically minded friend of mine reckons it could be the head gasket! going to put it into a different garage for a diagnostic, I'll get them to check the cold start valve in the exhaust. Fingers crossed it's not a cracked head.

Thanks Kirsty. But egr? I'm not good with these abreviations!missfixit70 wrote:That'll probably be to do with the egr & turbo, can't remember specifics, but it's a reasonably common thing with em from when I was looking into them.Trebormint wrote:Sorry, no advice I'm afraid but I'll interested to hear a successful outcome as my sister seems to be having the same problem with her Ford Galaxy (auto box).

Re: Help! Bongo power loss
Exhaust gas recirculation, might be called something slighly different, but IIRC from reading up on it, it was something to watch out for on the VW Sharan/Ford Galaxy/Seat Alhambra (all basically the same just like the Freda & Friendee are the same). Slightly different set up to the bongo I think, that resulted in turbo damage if not remedied.

Re: Help! Bongo power loss
Problem solved! The garage found what looks like brown felt blocking the fuel line at the tank. What a relief! Back on the road.
Thanks for all the advice.
