In my Van I suspect foul play
Charge bulb and sendiment bulb have gone away
Sockets empty whats more to say
I did a substitution, to get a solution
Then checked the fuse
But still no light
Of warning, a serious plight.
Whats next to do
Dunno, do you #-o

the above posts are loosing me

But I can work out the charging and sediment bulbs have been removed by a previous owner ,,not good,

however I had a Sierra a good few years ago that the charging light stayed on but was fine it was just a diode that blew I fixed it with a diode pack

now yours could have been removed because they were shining but otherwise is perfectly ok

now if my memory serves a few users had these lights come on when a load was plugged into the cigarette socket at the front and some when the leisure battery was charged direct from the alternator.

so it may be the previous owner had some thing plugged into the cigarette socket which caused the lights to glow and as they could not find the problem they removed the bulbs

as your obviously chaging the battery
replace the bulbs and hope

Hi
The bulbs have not been removed, my mistake.
The battery is going flat when left for a few days.
There is a wire that comes from the side of the alternator and travels behind the dash of the bongo.
When this wire is put to earth, the lights come on at ignition, and do not go out.

Should that wire be earthed ?
If the answer is yes, does the fact that the lights are on, and the battery going flat mean that my alternator is kaput ? Ta

The honest answer from me is I don't know
Have you checked the votage accross the battery when idle and with engine running should be about 12.5 idle and about 14 running

Hopefully there is a more techie biased person who can answer that about the wire.

Not checked the voltage yet.
Is idle, as in idling on tickover, and running approx 2000rpm?

no idle is switched off and running being engine running
