Mines at 4.5, I know most people (who I know personally) have it set around this but all comes down to where you live, hills, condition of your coolant/system ect

That's interesting. I've often wondered if the Mason alarm would pick up a burst hose. Some people say that the de-pressurisation will cause the temperature to drop rather than rise or that the lack of coolant around the sensor will render it useless. No-one of course wants to experiment. So your misfortune has provided some useful information. Thanks.
It certainly let me know something was up! :D
It was just before one of the meets last October, It pipped slightly on my way home earlier that day ( i have no other alarm, i'm a kind of "use the force" kind of guy! )

Was going to look at it in the morning.. (no steam at the time) Then later decided to go out to the shop a few miles up the road & get supply's.. #-o
Anyway. I got a mile up the road the MA screamed & i stopped.. It was then i noticed steam coming out from under the drivers door.
I let it cool a while turned around & nursed it home.. Lucky it was all down hill!!

It was a top hose, no other harm done...
Been all over Europe since as far as North Italy.. All good! :D
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

Mine is set to just a tad under 5 , but i do tow a small caravan every now and then, it does chirp on the odd occasion going up hills, but nothing to worry about. [-o<
