Greenflag refused to take mine from Stafford to Market Drayton (25 miles) I told them it was a specialist dealer and they changed their minds.

Solution to this was cancel my AA membership, and join the RAC! They towed it to Wraysbury no bother, but again I doubt they would re-recover it. Could always join green flag, too!
get the bongo a quarter of a mile away from home and re phone the RAC (before you do this though phone a repatable dealer and arrange them to do the work and get the rac to take it to them saying it has broken down again )

it worked for me last year
I NOW HAVE AN ASTRA JUST THE BONGO TO FIND A NEW HOME THEN I AM OUT OF HERE

Mike, thanks for the heads up on Discount trucks. It's booked in to be re-engined with an estiamte of £1500.

Will let you know how I get on.

Thanks again!

Excellent news and good luck. Everyone who has dealt with them has high praise for the quality of their work and their commitment to Bongo customers. Long may they reign. If they can't do well for you, I doubt anyone else could do better, so you've made a good choice. 8)

PS - when I think that my Spacewagon cost me £600 a few years back just to have a new ECU unit put in it, the price for a replacement Bongo engine really doesn't sound that bad at all!

Went to pick the Bongo up from Discount Trucks yesterday, and enjoy its new engine. Finished work early, took the train from london to Newbury and waited for the Bongo to be delivered to me.

It didn't....a Peugeot 206 did! Apparently the machinic was driving my van to the station when an unspecified knocking noise started, so the garage took it back.

Net result - Bongo Still off the road 6 weeks after intial breakdown. At least it went wrong while the garage were driving it, and not after I'd picked it up.

So, this weekend will involve a tent and a crap French hatchback, rather than Bongo luxury :(

Bummer, but at least the excellent guys at Discount are looking after it and this weekends weather barely requires the shelter of a tent, let alone a Bongo. Frustrating, but hope it gets sorted OK soon. [-o<
