That or belt's would be my bet too. You'll have to try a process of elimination. Water pumps are usually more of a rumbling sound when on their way out but if - after spraying belts and pulleys (WD40 for belts, only temporary, and oil for pulley bearings, not to be got on belts) - the noise persists then consider it - along with alternator and aircon compressor - a possibility I suppose.

Might be safer to use water & one of those squirty pump bottles that you get from a garden centre. It will dry out quickly with no danger of any slippyness on the belts.

Strangely - with the passenger side engine compartment open, the noise wasn't so noticeable.
Did notice however that on the pump? below the alternater, I seem to only have one of the long bolts on the top
The end where the bolt head was is still shiny, so I assume it was taken off fairly recently!!
Will continue to chase after the 'HeHeHeHe' noise but, for some reason this morning, I don't seem to notice it. Being in IT I'm well aware of the problems that only present themselves when they're not being looked for!!
Hi catzi,
Its looks like you have a adj bolt missing,this might be causing the belt to run out of line,thus causing your noise.
Check your under tray for missing bolt.

Correct - I'm looking for a tray.
Should get a replacement bolt tomorrow so will see how it affects the noise.

aye I would certanly replace the bolt that used to be there,and if it's clean around the head surface then theres been one there and a bolt that size is defanately doing something important best of luck .

When you fit the bolt, adjust it to make the belt run in the centre of the pulley.
Ps hope you find your tray.
