This recent thread discussing diffs etc reminded me that i hadn't checked i actually had any diff oil in either of mine!

Nearly 5 years i've been meaning to check it!
So yesterday morning i attempted to scramble under the bongo and have a bit of a rummage...I'd searched the threads on techie for recommended diff oils, and got it down to a short list, dependent on whether my 4wd had limited slip diffs or not.
So objective number one... determine my diff!(s).
Problem number one... I couldn't even fit my head under the bongo, let alone my generously proportioned body (good eh?)... Hmm, how to safely jack the bongo up on loose gravel?
In a moment of inspiration, i solved the problem of jacking my funky baby up!......

Straight round to wheelquick and let them jack it up instead!
After myself and stu scratched out heads for half an hour trying to work out how to fit the ramp legs under the bongo, (we used two trolley jacks at the rear, then chopped two big blocks of wood for the legs so my sideskirts didn't get squashed) We determined through spinning of the wheels, that the opposite wheel span the other way to whichever wheel we turned, so it was an open diff, and not a LSD type diff, despite the sticker on the diff casing having the famous "LSD diff oil only" quotation!
Thankfully, both diffs were full to the brim with oil, and both were spotlessly clean, so an executive decision was made not to fix what ain't broke, and back on went the diff plugs.
Can i just take this opportunity to thank my bongo for not being broke!
(she knows if she starts playing up its' bye bye time)
