So have I, but it gives me a cold draught around the back of my neck this weather.

I have the manual aircon on mine, so i don't know what the highest setting is on the "leccy" version... But i CAN tell you that if the heaters are set slightly more than midway (front or rear) it gets uncomfortably warm inside, stifling even.
The bongo heaters, are in my mind the strongest i've ever had in a car.

as i was out in the bongo last night and discovered the highest deg,s on the digital counter is 32
warmest heaters ive known was in our works LT35 vw
i used to drive from leicester to germany (just north of KOLN) middle of winter with the windows down and heaters on full
fresh air to keep me awake and blowers to keep me warm
used to set of at 6 pm and get to silongen at 11.00am - 13.00 pm.......so straight through the night
hence windows well down so the wind was blowing my head off to keep me awake
and blowers so i didnt freeze
was only 19 and pretty scary when you went through the zoll at acchen (think ive spelt it right) they had guns and all sorts on the border control ( all gone now)
and god forbin if you didnt have the correct papers
but i enjoyed it
herald of free enterprise zeebrugger???? i was on the earlier sailing that day
how lucky am i ???????

Just had another look at the Bongo Manual and it shows that the Rear air con switch on the front control panel enables Fan Speed Adj and, using the Mode switch, Fresh Air/Recirculated Air selection in the rear of the Bong.
Hope this helps you with the problem.

2nd that. The Bongo is wonderful once engine warmed up, plus I love the 'radiator' in the middle of the car. I also love the option to have ladies toasting in the back while I have cool air in front. One thing that continues to puzzle me though with my Bongo is why condensation appears to happen more than it did in my other cars. Mind you (and this is not as daft as it sounds) it could be because of global warming i.e. since I got the Bongo we have had more wet weather than I can ever recall previously!
Also, I appreciate that with big front windscreens, the top of the screen is far away from the blowing source. I think the Bongo screen blower is not as powerful/effective as it could be in dealing with this.

Don't mention LT35d's to me andy... When the strap was undone on one of the rear doors, it tried to eat my thumb

They did have good heaters though!

You were lucky with that ferry, much luckier than my thumb with the VW!

When i had a loose hose up front, i'd be met with a foggy windscreen each morning, when the hose was tightened, the misting stopped.

Off subject but talking about being luck or unlucky in life. I went through Skopje on the train in 1963 the day before the earthquake. Pew!

This thread has really cheered me up (sad I know).
My rear controls are in my conversion (stilla accesible) and I had it in my head (dont know why) that wouldn't really be able to gain much benefit from the rear heater with this arrangement. it didn't really bother me as I am not big on car heating anyway (asthmatic) but I had completely forgotten that those vents are controlled by the rear heating controls - so in fact I can have heating in the back when needed after all.

Further off topic - my son missed the tube train that was blown up under Russell Square, he has never been so happy to see the doors close as he reached the platform.

It may say that but it doesn't do that.
Must be "Lost in Translation".
All the button shown does, is cycle between floor vent/floor and roof vents/roof vents.
The exterior/recirculate button is on the left hand side above the demist buttons and does not seem to affect the rear system at all - so far as I can see.

Thanks BDC. Hmmm - that's interesting. I seem to have hardly any coolant loss, but have once or twice had a bit of that 'hot wet rubber' smell when turning hte heater on. How do you go about getting at aforementioned hose for inspection and possible remedy?

If memory serves me correctly mike, it was one off the lower hoses accessible under the sliding door, (sorry not much help) I guess it was the pipe to the rear matrix?
Surprizing it misted up just the windscreen.. But that's what happened!
