Is it possible that the current rad is not correct or has been custom-built? I have a 1997/98 SLG5 & everything from the rad to the exhaust has little stickers saying WL01. I've never come across WL02, or anything other than 2.5 or 2.0 engine. There is link somewhere on the forum where you can enter you chassic number & it tells you exactly with variant it is. If I was closer, I'd let you have my old radiator to compare it to what you've got.

Hi Simon thanks for post, have you looked at the two links i have posted ? can you see the different sizes ? i have had the two rads in front of me, its not me quoting cc sizes but the ebay listings ! the full sticker is as i have said is PA66-8F88 SAE [PA66] R - WL02-15-200H ON VAN PLATE KD-SGL3F 101319
I cannot see a custom built rad carrying the above codes, Autocool at Sheffield, have both rads in stock, with the 2 sizes of matrix's, but for convenance i ordered off ebay, look forward your comments on the sizes listed on ebay?
thanks Rich

I can only assume that item 180245734235 on ebay incorrectly listed & therefore is not for a Bongo as they have stated. There is no Bongo 2.7Di that we have come across. The one you have ordered (120359386724) appears to match the sizes as a I recollect them, so should fit fine. Anyone buying the smaller radiator would have a surprise if the item arrived as described, because it would not fit the top & bottom mounting points.
Take a look at item 200298473907 on ebay. This is described as a Bongo engine, but with the crankshaft mounted fan, overhead mounted air intake, & lack of take-off point for the bleed pipe, we can see it is not a Bongo engine as claimed. It is clearly more like the Ranger engine shown in by earlier post, but the ain't no way that will fit in a Bongo without some serious surgery

How would that air intake pipe above the rocker cover fit under the centre panel or seats?

Can you get a Ranger with an auto box?
That engine has a torque converter.

But none of that on there seems to relate to the Mazda built (in Thailand) Ranger sold in the UK - that is all about the completely different US Ranger SFAICS.

Fourth generation ('98+) is the version commonly available in the Uk. See here for a Ranger 2.5 XLT
Auto for sale:

Now -this may be the cause of the problem BigRich was finding when looking for a rad. There was a 2.9 Ranger, so perhaps if the suppliers have linked that to the Bongo, then it would explain the weird engine sizes they referred to?

PS - apologies for long URLs - not mastered TinyURL yet

Hi
I went to a motor factor...well, more like an occasional parts supplier, over here, and tried to buy an air filter.....according to their parts books (i looked through several books), there's no such thing as a Mazda Bongo 2.5 diesel

.....BUT, there's 1.6 litre, and at least 5 engine sizes up to around 2.7. The books were German, so what else would you expect ....If it ain't made in Germany they don't want to know......goodness knows what sort of part I would have ended up with!!!....On the other hand, if you go to a supplier with an up-to-date computer system....no problem.
So....my advice would be to go through a known parts agent and get a radiator that is tried and tested...I used leizura on e-bay, and it has caused no problems in the extremes of temperature we get over here, but , obviously the real Mc.Coy is properly made with the little restrictor gismos in the coolant tubing.I did get an option of a local specialist firm repairing the rad. for me, and , apparently they take the tanks off and re-cement them, so it appears that the joint is merely some kind of sealant.....fiendishly clever, these Japanese
Cheers
Helen

There are lots (a whole range) of Bongo VANS but only two SG series Bongo FREINDEE body styles (AFT & Tintop) with 3 engine options 2 & 2.5 petrol and 2.5 diesel.
A Bongo is not a Bongo Friendee.

One Bongo van series the SS
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_S_platform#SS was also sold as the Nissan Vanette.

As this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Ranger
and this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_B-Series
explains there are 2 distinct and totally unrelated (apart from the name) Ford Ranger - ranges.
SKAICT the two ranges share nothing in common apart from the name and it no doubt causes confusion in the motor trade as does use of the name "Bongo".

Hi Scanner
...that explains a lot....except a couple of entries listed under Bongo Friendee with odd engine sizes....AND the 2.5 not listed at all > Definite listing for 2 models AT LEAST with the Friendee name....Fiendishly stupid these Germans
Cheers

I called into my local motor factors today and mentioned the problem with my rad leaking between the plastic header and the main body and they said they have had a few like that on other cars and have had them repaired, apparently they send em to the factory where they are resealed, well I am taking my old one over on Monday and they are going to get a price and send it off for resealing, I will post the results when I get em, if it worls it means I will have a spare rad, fingers crossed, now if I could only get my two spare alternators fixed, lol.
