the price of aft's have dropped rapidly over the last 6months.... so there really isn't a price difference in a tintop conversion or an aft....
Platty (Mark) will know, but you can see one or two of them advertising (1) down at the bottom of the 'For Sale' section on here and (2) on ebay from time to time. At least one of the converters is not far i.e. Sheffield.

As ever with this kind of work, recommendation counts for a lot. Platty (Mark) should be able to give you a view on the people he used. JAL Imports in Worcester seem to be doing innovative work on different types of roof conversion. If you can find out who is doing their work, it would be worth enquiring. If you can afford the 'mushroom' roof, it offers real advantage over the AFT roof by standing height for the full length of the vehicle.

I'm puzzled by the idea of AFT price tops compared to tintops. I've watched ebay prices and sensed this slightly (but not convincingly - I've seen tintops on ebay not getting much bidding, whereas well priced AFTs have). We really don't know what prices deals are closing at. Also, the need to compare like for like in mileage, year, condition. I'd be wary of allowing myself to believe the gap has really closed that much. But putting that to one side, the main point I'm trying to make is that moving from one vehicle to another carries the risk that (1) you will loss money on the sell/buy transactions and (2) you may lose a vehicle that is a good one (or at least one whose recent histery and performance you know and can plan around) for an unknown commodity.

I do think that over time a converted tintop may be more attractive to buyers than an AFT as it presents lower risk of failure in an ageing vehicle. On the other hand some (like me!) can't resist the Thunderbird 2 appeal and convenience of the AFT.

Hope this helps and good luck 8)
