Thanks for the comments chaps . It proves what a valuable resource Bongo Fury is - these are all just bits that I've posted since I've been through a similar experience. There can't be many problems with the Bongo that don't have an answer contained in the forum somewhere.

I live in Glasgow and my son and I fitted a new head, gasket, bolts etc in two weekends. Two short days, it was March, to remove everything and two to replace it all. It's not too difficult if you are fairly handy, very methodical and take a lot of notes as you take it all apart.

It is better to have it up on ramps to allow access from below when doing the timing and so on.
If you decide to do it yourself I would suggest that you take the head for testing to Blane Engineering at Killearn. They will source a good quality head if you need one along with new bolts and gasket set. They are probably the best in this area.

I would be happy to meet you to give my limited knowledge and support if you feel it would be worthwhile.
