hi folks the compensator is CSI Airflow its Swiss made and the model no 5016-01 it is for indoor use only but wd keep the unit in the garage and trail wires out to the car on the 12v side, i can only say the do work and are brilliant all you do is plug in and walk away, the conditioner does the rest.

It sounds similar to this shaun.... (none of the type you mention on e-bay)

Have a read up of the blurb, it sounds pretty good....
A bit pricey in my opinion, but if it keeps the battery healthy (including the l/b) for an extra few years, then it will pay for itself in time.

Yep, looks good shaun,a bit cheaper than the e-bay one i found too,but it may strain the device a little if i try to charge my leisure battery with it, as my l/b is a 110 amp version. Still, a nice little item that i will consider for purchase...

Thanks for the head up on it.

Shouldn't be a problem Ste, especially as your LB is unlikely to be totally flat.
At the recent Essex Mini-meet, my little unit failed to cope with Hippotastic's totally flattened twin batteries, but all that happened was that it shut down (probably some sort of thermal cut-off

) - it worked fine again after a few minutes

Wouldn't it be nice if it could keep both the starter and LB batteries topped up at the same time. But I guess parallel connecting a 95Ah starter battery and a 110Ah LB and the nleaving hte conditioner to look after the lot is both a flawed idea and beyond the device's capabilities (or is it, as long as your batteries are not in a seriously flattened state?)
Price seems pretty good for this kind of stuff. I'd love to have a permanent installation so you could just plug a mains supply into the vehicle (on hookup or at home) and be confident that both starter and LB were being kept tip-top for the next outing.

Hi Mike
You read my mind!! You probably remember , years ago, the unit you could wire up and fit under the bonnet, and it came with a waterproof socket, so you stop the car, plug into the mains, and leave it to charge the battery. It used to look like an ignition coil, and just fixed adjacent to the battery. I wonder if such a thing is still available? You also used to be able to buy mains water pre-heaters to keep the car's coolant warm in the winter, so you just jump in flick the starter, and the heater is all ready to go....ah, those good old days
Cheers
Helen
