All diesels have to be restricted, either mechanically or electronically, to stop them revving into infinity and.... whatever comes after that.

Anything with an ecu can be chipped, anything with a mechanical pump... well you're pretty much stuck with it!

You could always play with the timing if you're desperate for more power (or efficiency). I might be wrong, but I think that's what black cab drivers do to make their cabs go a bit quicker. They might spew out a bit of black smoke along the way, and do a few less mpg, but if they can get more fares of an evening.....

That is an engine RPM governor - what they are talking about here is an electronic road speed restrictor.

The best way is to sorce a local specialist and get the Bus remaped or Chiped
they will give you the best advice
I had a Range Rover DSE done and it get loads more power and the MPG went up
by about 4mpg
I asl now of a few people who have had camper vans done with the same result
its about £250/300

as i said sorce a local specialist, for best advice , Bongos have a ECU
so surley it can be remaped?? or fuel pumps upgraded?
ive even know of old LANDROVERS modified as i use't to be heavly
involved with Landrover clubs and stuff

Nope, apparently the question has been asked many times and every time the computer says no.
It may have an ECU but that doesn't control the injection.

But if you can find somebody who can do it you'll make a lot of owners very happy.

I dunno about the later "fly by wire" type bongo's (2000 onwards?), but most don't have an E.C.U. to chip, you can i believe have a mechanical tune,i.e. timing adjusted,fuel pump adjusted etc.

They have an ECU, but not one that controls the injection pump. I would guess the fly-by-wire ones must be electronically controlled and should therefore be chippable.
