I know an old chap who owns an absolutely pristine pale green Austin A40 Farina. He has owned this car for donkeys years. I asked him how he keeps it so immaculate. Ater washing and leathering he "polishes" the bodywork with WD 40. He demonstrated the effect by doing a small area then chucking water over it.
The water ran off like the proverbial ducks back and I,m certainly going to adopt this for the Bongo. The shine is amazing too!

Don't do what my mum did to my Dads beloved Mk2 GT Cortina (many moons ago). She scrubbed the bonnet with a Brillo pad.

cheers Mike, I didn't think the paintwork on me Bongo was too bad until you pointed it out, I'll have to do sumut about it now.
Only joking, what a great post, at some stage I'll get round to applying some of these ideas. I'll probably just start with a t-cut/polish on the bonet.

Yep, chances are that'll do the job...plenty more interim options too before a respray/relacquer will be on the cards...

I'd say t-cut then one of the other ideas on here to seal the matted paint and try and get a repellant glossy surface. (hard wax is used on glider wings so that must be a serious piece of kit as they don't use rubbish on expensive glass gliders).
It really would be worth getting an old wing with tired paint and using it to try out test sections
