Well I got Billy-Bob back today.
The sliding door is apparently a sensor problem. The Air con, which was working when it went into the garage, now needs a new compressor. The rest is up and working. There was a lot to do. New suspension bits, new wheels headlight and indicator where some one hit it while it was parked up.

Anyway I'm just glad I don't have to hire any more cars or vans. After three months, £3000 to Lakeside and all the costs of the hire cars, I could have bought a couple of new Bongos.

Oh! And the leisure battery drains the starter battery if it's left connected.

Off to Denmark next week to recover.

Ouch! Sorry you've had so much aggro.

The compressor on ebay only got one bid and went for £10. Was it you?

No. Haven't had time to look for stuff yet. I'll do next month, when I'm back from Denmark.

Need a door "sensor" thingy and the compressor.

My main battery failed suddenly at the weekend, so much so the side door just managed to close with the accompanied whirrings.

Checked the charging circuit as a matter of course and replaced the failed battery - side door douldn't open. Stripped door panel off, manually moved motor linkage (watch for catching your fingers) and it whirred/clicked again :) The battery just hadn't enough juice to drive the motor through it's full cycle I reckon and the switch contact was lost.

Door now opening/closing perfectly :) I've never heard of a door motor failing - and if it has failed then I'm sure it could be reconditioned for a helluva lot les than £1000 - it's only a simple electric motor, like a wiper motor I reckon

Not that it sounds like you need one, but door closing mechanism has just come up on ebay (never seen one listed before): http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MAZDA-BONGO-FORD- ... 286.c0.m14
