I love this debate. Can't help but think that Spitfire pilots must have been given advice like this on how to start and run their engines before taxying out. I do remember something about Spitfires having to be got airborne within x minutes or the underwing cooling radiators will fail to stop the engine from overheating due to lack of airflow through them.

I don't fly Spitfires any more so its academic to me now, but anyone out there who is planning to might find this tip useful :lol: :lol: :lol:

We took the 20 minute tourist flight to Benbecula on it last week - wonderful :) :D

Thanks Guys. The problem seems to have disappeared again for the time being... However I now have what seems to be a dying alternator & low engine temp!! I'll start a new thread on this one :roll:

I'll take a peek at home Dandy as my employers have 'improved' employee lunch motivation by denying them access to shedloads of websites, including pics on photobucket etc. etc. :evil:
