I'm at Plan G now. BongoDoc says he can fix the old alternator as it only needs new brushes & has ordered some Mitsubishi ones to come on Monday.

You should be on Plan A, send the crap one back and get a full refund.

Ahh!

Thats part B of plan G.

Sorted over the fone already.

They're sending my defunct one back to their supplier, who will sort that one with proper kit & revamp the rest of the batch of 40 my dealer has bought.

As a sideline, peglegpete has been in touch, he's a darling.

Will have spare tomorow. This forum lark really is the business!!

What an amazing bunch you all are, makes me feel all warm & cuddly!!

Back on the road!!

12 days later. Ended up with Plan R.

Original alternator has been re-built, courtesey of peglegpete's old one. The regulator was shot in mine, the brushes in Petes'. Two into one does go!

Such a fantastic buzz to get back in the old boy!! Bright lights, no wierd sounds. Stonking!! :D

I've discovered a very clever local auto-electrics man who can work miracles. Anyone needing an alternator rebuild, all new components, can be done for less than a hundred quid.

Knowledge is power!!!
