If they choose to Mike :)

Yeo1 has a Bongo badged as an Efini - no "Friendee" badges on it
Mine also has Efini on the back door....

Just my own view, but I don't see a problem trying to share information & experience on similar vehicles if it helps someone out.

Found out that Efini is a tuning/customising company in Japan with affiliation to Mazda

So complicated. Surely, as Nana is a member of the forum; a Bongonaut no less and appears to have Mazda Bongo? derived vehicle, could we not be a little more diplomatic and helpful, especially as Nana comes from Yorkshire?

Wonder what they did to mine? Then again, I'm fairly sure that the tailgate has been replaced (factory fitted curtain rails at front & middle but none on tailgate), so maybe nothing!

Interesting - that shows the engines as V6s :? :? :?
And no diesel of any description, certainly not the Bongo's, anywhere in the line up.

But that's a Bongo, not the "MPV" Mazda MPV in the Wikipedia reference.

That's an interesting slant on it P & S - would you have been less diplomatic and helpful if Nana came from Lancashire or Clackmannanshire of anywhere else but Yorkshire :?:  :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello again, i'm still searching for my revving problem and i keep getting drawn back to timing, can anyone tell me on which crankshaft pulley mark i should be setting cam/pump timing.
I've got two marks on the crank pulley about 10mm apart, cam and pump marks line up on one of these marks but obviously not on the other one, it could just be its timed on the wrong mark.

Cheers Norm

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi, Norm,

The 2 marks you have on the crankshaft pulley are for adjusting the valves......... 1 mark puts #1 cylinder at TDC, to adjust 6 valves, then turn engine 1 full turn to the other mark, which puts #4 cylinder at TDC to adjust the remaining 6 valves.

As the crank is geared to the Injection pump, and you obviously have not disturbed that, the only marks you have to line up are the camshaft & Injector pump marks. Injection pump mark is at about 10 O'clock, not sure from the manual where the matching mark to the pump sprocket is........ The cam marks are at 12 O'clock.

After the belt is installed, turn the engine by hand, 2 turns clockwise, loosen the tensioner lock bolt to tension the belt (using the spring tension only). Lock up the tensioner bolt & turn a further 2 turns clockwise. Re-check the timing marks, then at the longest run of the belt, the deflection should be 9 - 10 mm, with 22lbs of force.

All the above is taken directly from the WL-T Mazda engine manual.

If you are confident all the above is OK, the problem may be fuel related. Did you change the fuel filter as well ?? Try it with the fuel cap off, in case of a blocked tank breather. By-pass the fuel filter (Temporarily) to see if that cures the problem, there is a valve type thingy on the top of the fuel filter housing, some type of diaphragm/regulator perhaps?? (On the Nissan 2.7 diesel in the london cab, the fuel filter has a primer pump on the filter head, which sometimes gives similar trouble)

I'm not sure if the Bongo has a pick up filter in the tank, or how you could get to it. Try carefully blowing down the fuel line from the tank to the filter to see if there is an obstruction.

Sorry to go on a bit, but I know how frustrating something like this can be.............. Let me know what you find..

Regards,
Steve (aka fx4taxi) "

If that is no help then there were other results, or try "timing and marks", or any other combination, as long as you put the "and" in between words you should get relevant results.
Hope this helps :D

I won't stand for this falling out over a (albeit rather vague & complicated) question.

Nana: Post a pccie or 2 of what you have. Someone may be able to help.

Mike: Be nice.

This is begining to sound more like a problem that should be addressed to Dear Deidre.

What about that little gauze filter in the banjo connection to the fuel pump?

With the Bongo I thought I was buying an unusual, possibly risque import.

Had no idea I was being so conservative!

That looks like a bit of a challenge to maintain/repair/get bits for. There must be some specialist outfit somewhere for these.

There are a couple of Japanese based members that touch base on here from time to time, maybe they'd know someone who knows . . . .
