heater tips

I know that most of the comments have been made. I have just fitted a 12volt heater bought off e bay. When it arrived the wireing had plugs and sockets but was not compatable with any pluga and sockets you can buy. I asked the seller and he cut them from the vehicle loom. I understand that some BT vans have the heater fitted at the factory and so the heater loom is built into the vehicle loom. I ran it first in the garage on a bench but it would not fire up properly. After a week of trying I discovered that the battery I was using was not sufficient (a motorcycle battery) The voltage dropped to 10.5 volts and the heater shuts down. I used a 8mm tee with a 4mm sleeve to connect the feed all push fit. To prime put two small leads onto the fuel pump comnnection and work the pump by touching one lead onto a live feed until fuel comes through. I am going skiing in january and the last time I went I had trouble starting at -18 C so I have ducted the warm air over the engine for now as I wont be sleeping in the van. The previous tips were very helpful to me.

Cripes motorwizard. Was that just while you were bench testing it or is this the permanent installation in operation

Motorwizard, I wondered whether it would be ok to stick 12V straight into the pump to prime the system, but was unsure if it might damage it, as in normal use you can hear it speed up & down. Looks like I would have been ok. Good to know
