Like all things you get different quality LEDs. The cheap ones are rubbish and usually have the wrong (or no) resistor in line so they fail quickly. Decent ones with the right built in resistance last for tens of thousands of hours.

Back to the interior light dimmer. I fitted one today - straight forward piece of kit but annoyingly it interferes with the sidelight/headlights. As the delay is counting down the lights warning buzzer goes on until the interior light extinguishes....................... :( Kinda defeats the purpose really.

What exactly does the delay do? People are talking about solving a problem but I am not sure what problem they are refering to?

I know this sounds dumb but how do you remove the interior light without breaking it.

Does it do this only when the key is fitted?

If so, this is the 'key is still in your ignition' warning.

Nope, I've disconnected the "key is still in" annoyance.

If I turn on the lights and the interior light is still illuminated (cos it thinks the door is still open) the buzzer sounds.
I've been in touch with the seller and he's on the case. :)

The interior light delay quite simply keeps the interior lights on after the door is shut,(for a pre-determined time) so you can see to insert your key,put your face on the stereo, pick your nose, check your lippy etc...

Likewise on the way out of the bongo, how many times have you had to unlock, then open the door to illuminate the light to check you haven't left valuables on show? Phone, etc...

I have made a quick fact sheet for this and have e-mailed it to Ian. I used the pictures that s.w.blackwell took.

Dandywarhol have you heard back from the seller. I've got one of these units but won't wire it in until I know about the lights on alarm - or is there a work around for this? Or is it easy to live with?

He said he had sent you an alternative unit to try. The idea to wire it to the passenger door I dont think will make any difference as the passenger door open triggers the lights on alarm too.

Be a great mod if it works properly.

I have one fitted and find it helpfull, you can adjust the time it stays on. Have just got a cat1 alarm and am fitting it now. Gonna use the ultrasonic detectors or you could fit seperate door switches or just wait 10 seconds until the light goes out.

Yes, he got back to me - he's helpful. I haven't received the modified unit yet but I'll post the findings here when it does.

The 10 second wait til the light goes out before switching on the lights might not seem much but it is a pain in the arse - sod's law that every traffic light you come up to is at red and would've been green 10 seconds previously................

How about using the light out arming the alarm through a relay? Or is this to simplistic?

Just a bump on this one - Dandy did you get the different unit from the ebay geezer? Was wondering if it was a better bet than the original?
