dont need to move the switch just get yourself a piece of bamboo cane or similar wrap the end with some thing to stop scratches and there you have your lock switch problem solved without having to climb inside.

Hi all,

The roof has a safety interlock switch in the roof so that no one can shut the roof accidentally while you are in it! The roof seems to be made of SMC (Sheet moulding compound) so that is as strong as the hull of a jet ski! The closure system seems to have a low gearing so will readily crush you , and I have no idea if there is a current sensing override, so a death could be on the cards! The chance to check there is nothing left up there is a useful by product.

The instructions earlier omitted to say to shut the small trap door after the unlock switch had been pressed, and shutting the sliding sun roof door would also stop UV damage wrecking the tent fabric...thats if we ever get any bloody UV worth a mention :o

A cautionary note here....when using the large trap door, note that as it passes the zip on the tent there is a small chance of it catching the tent and ripping it, especialy if the roof is not fully extended, which makes the tent sides extra flappy!

The tent should have a system of weighted poles and spring tensioners to automatically fold and retract the fabric, so check they are all present and correct if you have problems.

I take your point on safety.

We simply never had a child or even a mother-in-law at risk of crushing!

Not even the PortaPotti came close to it.

In fact we were more likely to damage ourselves by the required contortions to operate the interlock than we were by being trapped in the roof.

As for stopping half way down isn't this so the front of the tent can be pulled in. Mine will stay outside the roof line if i don't pull it in.
I think you are right. I too reckoned it was so you could check the tenting had folded in properly and adjust if not

Hi
Just looked in on this thread again....the thought of getting squashed makes me think of Cluedo...I've never played it, but "squashed by the butler in the Bongo" seems likely, or maybe John Nettles as Chief Inspector Barnaby could do a "Midbongo Murders" where one victim gets"roofed", another run over by a Bongo and embedded in the (dare I say it) bullbars, and another gets decapitated whilst checking the oil and the seat drops down.
Cheers

I can see this, if you had just done someone in in the attic of your Bongo you could give the Club (not in your Bongo) Salute with a knowing wink to passing Bongos.

Obviously can't say what the salute if on a public forum.

Live long and Bongo (but not in the attic)
