Hadn't driven after dark for a while until last night - I put it into reverse and nearly jumped out of my skin when it started to beep

Your not alone db, I have the same problem - cut the white wire, no more door beeps but reverse beep's gone too unless the lights are on.

Not sure how I feel about it, I think I would rather the reverse beeps were always there or not there at all; it's the dithering that gets to me. I’m very happy to have lost the old door beeps though.

STOP THE BEEP
This worked for me, fantastic tip :D , as the bongo needs a key in for everything to work, and gets anoying when camping and someone opens a front door. Never had a reversing beep anyway, should I have one in a P reg Manual :? ?

Never had the reverse beeper but as I have a tow bar fitted whenever I am towing and indicate there is a beeping noise sync'd with the indicator.

Mind having said there is no reverse beeper I have fitted one of the beeping bulbs into the reverse but you would be amazed at how many dozy sods still walk passed as I am reversing even with the beeper and bright bulbs and the dozy old buggers with trolleys at the local supermarket really " do my head in". At least I get some relief when I shout at em " are you sodding deaf as well as blind and stupid " never hAve a bloody gun when yoy need it most do you eh.
