Leisure battery wiring, Patching the fuse box

i bought this kit...............

well i bought this relay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0116406467 and i noticed his other items that he had for sale was bongo battery trays, so i asked if he had one and if he had fitted this relay to his bongo, and what amp cable he has used for the relay.

his reply was yes he has got a bongo and got one fitted to his and he said hes selling these kits in a few weeks pre made and just requires wiring in, and if i wanted one, it would be £27 extra with postage. so i got one.

so altogether it cost me about £56.35, and it took me half an hr to fit

This is fascinating. If the ebay seller is willinton (I havent checked yet), I had a long email dialogue with him earlier this year saying that someone ought to do a kit 'cos there would be market if they did. Sounds like he's a listener! I seem to recall discovering along the way that AVA Leisure did already do a kit, but there may have been a 'price issue' there. Anyone able to comment on that?

PS - willinton actually gave me full instructions on how I should fit one, but the blunt fact is I still found it too techie for me (in how it was written), and it was corblimeys instructions (with photos - invaluable!) that made it simple and clear. Well done (again) that man.

That's the one I bought - same guy. I gave him the same feedback Mike when I first contacted him a few months back and it's a great kit he's pulled together. The only difference in mine to the one pictured above is the added 35 amp cable and 30 amp fuse from the LB battery terminal to power the windows.

I've bought an extra fuse box as well as I've a few more bits of kit I want to be running from my battery. Yet to install.....

That's the fella I bought my tray from.

His cabling kit looks great and he's obviously found a source for decent VSRs to.

Should make life much easier for anyone wanting to fit a leisure battery.

combined with your instructions corblimey: it was a doddle. definitely needed your info as being such a new kit, there weren't any specific instructions included and all the safety and testing info was invaluable

related question for anyone, I'm running a new cable to my rear cigar lighter to run my Waeco CF-35 compressor fridge which is rated at 70W (I think). I've done all the calculations and reckon 25A cable with a 10A fuse should be OK. Does that sound about right? What have other people used?

yes mike he is willington, he must be a member of this site coz he new all about the bongo and what most people was wanting to run off the leisure battery, and the problems withthe rear cig lighter and he had the info of all the fuses in the fuse box.

I was impressed with him. I think he started cos he wanted to do the work on his own Bongo. Guess having made a mould he thought might as we ll re-use it. Then he listened to peoples worries over wiring it up and made a kit. Smart man! I wish him well.
