Or you could try my solution if you want to maintain some beeps for safety reasons. Lights left on etc. This tells you how to remove the 'ignition key beep'. If you need a clearer picture with instructions, e-mail me & I will send it direct & larger.

Within 4 hours I was p'd orf with the key in ignition buzzer.
Here is my solution to save wire cutting etc.
This is for '99V reg but presumably the same for most.

1 Unscrew the three philips headed screws under the steering column cowling.
Jiggle about until the two halves of the cowling part company.
Now follow the instructions on the picture.

Viewed from kneeling on the ground below the ignition switch you will see small yellowish plastic block. Out of which come two wires. Green and red with yellow trace. It is the latter we are interested in.
If you are lazy , cut the red & yellow.
If you want to do the job properly ~
Prize the cover off this little juction box BEWARE there is a tiny coil spring inside.
remove philips screw holding red/yellow. Wrap connector with insulating tape. Replace screw. Replace cover and small spring, re-assemble column shroud and jiggle about until all 3 screws get a grip.
There you are Radio in surrounding silence whilst stationary!!
