Diary of a panicking newbie camper!
I have put this in the open forum, AND the Lymington one.
I am preparing for our first nights out in the Bongo.
No big deal you say, but a its going to be at the Lymington gathering,
my first time will be a bit public.
I had hoped to have a "dry run" at a local campsite in advance, but
"dry" it hasnt been!
I have a new awning which I will no doubt struggle with...
So, no laughing please...
Oh, and I dont think my brand new Venice 200 has a breathable
groundsheet. Will I get slung out??
As there are no electric hookups avaiable, I wont be able to use the
pump on the sink. I guess its worth bringing a big plastic container to
carry some water in?
I still havent got a gas cylinder (4.5) as I have been hanging on for
one on ebay. Should have it on Monday.
Portable toilet. I havent got any "stuff" to put in our new potti and
not sure where to get any near Andover. Any suggestions please
I know I am worrying over nothing, but guess its all part of the fun!

Chris&Gem, the route is rideable if that helps,
but otherwise you could always drive around to the pub, I can give you the road route on site

(lazy bu***r

)
Greenman, there is no mention on the site details about groundsheets so you`ll be ok with that, a water carrier would be a good idea, and if you approach Lymington through Lyndhurst there is a large camping shop to sort out all of those bits and bobs you haven`t got, or you forgot

Are there any taxi's to get back
Greenman, do'nt worry to much, we went to the first meet of the year and forgot or ran out of everything.
Lots of other owners helped us out, thank you all.

Thanks everyone for the reassurances!
I have just got back from a drive from home in Andover, down to Lyndhurst to get some odds and ends from Leisure Fayre.
What an Aladdins cave!
Bought basic stuff like to toilet chemical, (expensiv) degradable toilet paper, a mallet, a small gas lantern and cylinder (no, no cuddly toy!!)
I have seen this shop before, usually while stuck in the traffic.
I managed to park in a residential doad just before, on the left, thus avoiding the car park.
I then thought, its not too far to go on to Lymington, and so I did.
'aint retirement wonderful???
Using sat nav, I drove straight to Hurst View.
I asked the lady on reception if it would be ok to have a peep.
She said it was fine and that "we thought we would put you in the play area!" I said that this would be very appropriate, which raised a smile!
Well, from what I saw, yer Man has done us proud!
I even used the toilets and give them a high mark.
Its a grear location and a peaceful one.
Well, it WAS today.
The only blot was of my own making!
I ddnt manage to find the Checkers too easily and ran out of time.
All in all, it looks superb for our first get together!
