Just got back after a fantastic brunch at the Steaming Kettle in Settle that got me and Will fettled (thanks for the tip everyone) and a drive through the Lancashire Fells (where the rain washed all the mud off the Bongo wheels) and the Trough of Bowland (where we looked up the gliding club that flies from there, or doesnt as the field is waterlogged - familiar?). Never seen so much lambing and so many daffodils - wonderful.
Thanks to Gillian and Peter for another great Bongoing weekend. Great to see everyone. Will had a great time with the kids, as always and I learned that it is quite wrong to compare the capability of the 2WD Bongo with the 4WD when the going gets muddy. The 4WDs went up the field like there was no problem. My 2WD couldn't begin to handle the soft ground. Only my Fiamma grips strips (used for the first time in anger) saved the day and got me out of the hole I'd dug when I failed to realise the diff. was allowing one wheel to spin 'rather more' than the other one.
The other big achievement for me was not being last off the field (didn't dare when I knew I might be stranded there if last!).
Sorry I didn't manage to play any guitar this time. Sorry to jetkier (Dave) I didn't get to show him the Caravanstore set up. Also to Ronhud for not finding time to show him the throttle lock/cruise control (nice to meet you and we'll do it next time I'll be back

I would like to add my thanks to Pete for efforts 'over and above' to make the meet such a special occasion and to all other Bongoliers for the friendly attitude. Will send a few pics a bit later when I get to grips with PhotoBucket and image sizes. Now I see how brill the Bongo cake was!!

Just a few piccies of the weekend
Well what a weekend that was

Great to see old and new faces
Ordered sunshine, we got snow

The children could play with the snow, so they were happy

Love the resilience of Bongoliers, faced with bad weather, we all pitch in and the show go's on

Found out our new awning was not happy with the heavy snowfall, we were saved by Dreamwarriour's quick reactions, he dashed from his stricken gazeebo, to help rescue Ethan and Matthew from inside the Awning,

Thanks too to Waycar for his help in straightening out the poles that had taken on snake-like shapes

A big thanks to all who attended and braved the weather and mud, top marks to Knight Stainforth site, great drainage, we managed to drive our 2W.D off the site with no assistance. Special thanks to Patrick for calling in on his travels, hope you get your move back up north soon, hope to see you at future meets

It was great to see so many children having so much fun and adults too

A big thanks to you all, you know who you are

Well, I'd hoped to get to Stainforth, but it wasn't to be...
I've just spent 3 days assessing a couple of Duke of Edinburgh's Award groups in North Yorkshire - unfortunately they were nearer Harrogate than Stainforth.....
Looks as though we all had the benefit of the weather though
Good on you folks - I'll try to get to a meet this year - really!!!
Cheers,
Dave

We had a group of youngsters on the campsite doing the Duhe of Edingborough award, they were a jolly bunch, not put off by the weather
