Been reading these comments with interest, I too could be interested in a set (blue) dependant on price but if its lower than rubber I am sure I will buy.

I would quite like a matt black set - kind of rubbery coloured. Failing that I could live with gloss black, it will tone down with a bit of muck in a few thousand miles. Am I the only prospective purchaser of a black set?

Aha...smartmonkey... There is more than vanity in my choice of coloured hoses...in a years time (when new black ones are indistinguishable from the old hoses) I'll still know which hoses HAVE been replaced, and which original rubber hoses are more likely to let go.

The same applies to any future purchaser of my bongo, they will know at a glance that the blue ones have been replaced, whereas the other black ones could be nearly thirteen years old!

Have to agee with those who want a coloured set ,.I do not care much about the look of the hoses (although red looks good with anything in an engine bay and blue with a silver white or blue van !) - - but I would be keen to let a future owner know that they had all been changed as a matter of course in a vehicle over 10 years old with a model history of hoses blowing.

No you're not SM - I am like minded (purchasing depends on how many £ I have in the kitty when price is announced). I'm pretty sure by the way the briefest of inspections will make it very easy to distinguish between the old rubber hoses and the new silicon ones even if both are black. Apart from the variation caused by difference in age, I suspect (though I don't know why) that the silicon ones are likely to remain looking glossier whatever you do and whatever age they are.

Anyone able to confirm this either way (flippa where are you?) 8)

Maybe mike... but not as easily recogniseable as the hoses being a different colour altogether.

I suspect the black ones will soon dull as they get covered in the dirt that engines tend to pick up, the blue ones will remain blue, a dirty dull blue , yes...but still blue nonetheless....

Oops sorry. Just posted new topic instead of reply. I'll try again.
I'm up for one too.
Flippa - Would you tell me which country they're produced in and what spec are they manufactured to?
Thanks Garry.

A set of red or blue sounds interesting.
Like other members though, its all down to cost?

I'd be interested too and I like the idea of a different colour to indicate the ones that have been changed. Any colour will do for me - I'll go along with the majority.

Y'see, I worry that the old Bongo will start to look like Frankenstein s monster under the bonnet if I start putting coloured hoses on, but that's probably because I'm a Paid Up National Trust Member and General Fuddy Duddy

Nah!... i've used samco hoses on my show cars for years mike, and they looked nothing like frankenstein's monster under the bonnet mate... I'll reserve judgement on the bongo though...

bling bling, bling bling, bling bling.

Hello yes, this is Mr Cholmondley-Warner's residence. I'm afraid the old fuddy duddy is out in the garage playing with his hose and I couldn't possibly disturb him. Please try later
