help... mirror has gone to sleep

please help me, i my drivers side electric mirror has stopped working, passenger side is ok,

last week it stopped for a couple of days and then i turned on the ignition and it clicked and then worked fine, now not a sign of movement,

are they on separate fuses.....or does it need to be dismantled, please help i hate things not working,

please please please help, if a motar any idea of costs including the fitting :?: :?: :?:

I would check the wires were they go from the car into the door, they can & do break.

I don't think it would be the fuse if one is working OK, they are both on the same one. More likely Maxhead room is right.

If it clicked I would think it more likely that the worm gear inside has slipped. I have fixed this on both my mirrors now, so if it is not wiring what you have to do is remove the mirror (door panel off undo bol;ts from inside, prise off the cover outside). When you have the mirror on your kitchen table (or workbench if you're posh) carefully remove the motor/ gearbox mechanism and you will probably find that the worm gear has moved along it's shaft to the point where it wil only 'catch' the spur gear if it starts at the right point. I think it is probably caused by people 'helpfully' folding your mirrors for you manually.. You should thgen be able to push the gear back so that it is halfway over the spur gear, blow out all the cobwebs and put it all back together again.

Usual disclaimers apply, I might have made all this up etc.. but it worked for me twice :)

its all fixed, yes it had come off its sprocket things, prob when i pressure washed it,
