Oil Leak - Middle of the van

Post by Japgo » Sat May 23, 2026 10:01 pm

Hi all,

Checking over the van today in preparation for a 5 hour trip to north wales next week and found an oil leak, middle of the van. Can anyone advise what this part is, and what the fault might be?
It’s a V6 Petrol, drives perfectly. The leak is pretty much exactly in the middle of the van, below the middle seats/footwell.
Doubti will be able to get it fixes into so will move the holiday dates but would be good to have an idea as to what the issue might be before the garages open again on Tuesday
Thanks in advance

The pictures are showing the gearbox sump. Has any work been done recently on the van ? Difficult to say how bad it is from the pictures, as the sumps are always being sprayed with road muck and oil.

Yep it’s not major but there was oil on the ground and I get paranoid about anything like that. Other than it’s MOT this year (straight through) a year ago the heads, hydraulic lifters, water pump were all rebuilt and replaced by a Bongo specialist, maybe 1k miles ago
