Fault codes 10, 11, 12, 14 and 18(!?) - help needed, please!

Gidday folks,

I have a 2004 2.5l TD. After a few months w/o using the Bongo I went for a drive. Once she was at operating temperature I took her to the motorway and did two full accelerations up to 100 km/h.

Shortly afterwards the glow plug symbol started flashing regularly. After the engine had cooled down it would stop and just restart doing this after maybe 15 min of driving and after the temperature gauge had reached normal operating temperature, where it stays.

I get the following fault codes when using an LED in the diagnostics port:
11 11 11 14 14 10 10 11 12 12 18
Then they start again.

10: intake air temperature sensor (IAT)
11: intake air temperature sensor (IAT) or circuit
12: throttle position sensor (TPS) or circuit
14: Barometic Pressure Sensor
18: ??? (maybe that only signals the end of the fault codes???)

Btw, the scavenger fan starts for about 20 sec after I have turned off the ignition after reading the fault codes even though the engine is cold.

I checked the engine bay sensor using a hair dryer and it started the scavenger fan, as expected.
Nevertheless, I then replaced the sensor in the engine bay compartment that starts the scavenger fan.
I have not deleted the fault code (should I have?)
A new test drive revealed the problem with the flashing glow plug symbol persists.

With the engine being completely cold I have then cleared the fault codes by disconnecting both batteries, then pressing the brake pedal several times w/o the key being in the ignition.
Reading the fault codes right after that gives me the very same sequence as the one above again.

Q1: ANY IDEAS?
Q2: Is there any OEM database with exploded drawing that I can use? I find it hard to find the OEM numbers for parts.
Q3: Where is my MAF sensor located?
Q4: Where is the EGR position sensor?
Q5: Is the engine bay sensor (the one starting up the scavenger fan) the same as the intake air temperature sensor?

there is also https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/mazda However I have just noticed that the Friendee is no longer listed but the part numbers and sources remain for many parts!

As to the actual codes, they tend not to be specific to a given problem more a case of reporting things that are occurring due to the fault itself.

I was also wondering if I have two-digit-codes or if they are four-digit ones after all since I keep getting that repeating sequence of 3x11 etc.

How would I be able to find that out?

The sequence is different between the codes, refer to the diagrams in the Members area (Fact Sheets) for the various patterns depending on year of the vehicle.
I have to say with vehicles of this age, the faulty circuit doesn't normally jump up and say its "ME", the other circuits around the engine normally flag a problem and you have to think around what is causing all the working circuits to report odd conditions to identify what is causing the oddities!!!!

One more info of today:

- I deleted all fault codes
- I drove the Bongo and before reaching standard temperature I stopped and checked for faults codes using my LED > none! and the glow symbol was not flashing either
- I drove on (never reaching more than 2,300rpm) and when the engine was at standard temperature the glow plug symbol started flashing again.
Also, the error codes were back (10, 11, 12, 14, 18). However, this time they came in a different pattern:

10 14 10 10 11 12 12 18

I will check the fact sheets in the members section.

Yet, I was wondering if any of you had any other idea?

Update:

2004 2.5l TD

I must have read the diagnostics port LED flashes wrong at the beginning It should have been:
11 11 11 14 10 14 10 10 11 12 12 18 (with slightly longer breaks between each sequence of 2 x 4 flashes). I remember the longer pauses.

Looks like I have four-digit-error-codes.

Thus, first I had:
P1114
P0400
P1228

I then replaced the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor.

Then I deleted all fault codes and got a new reading after engine went up to operating temperature:
P0400
P1228

I will keep you posted.
