Reverse camera fitting

Post by NLB2024 » Sun Feb 18, 2024 8:20 pm

So, I just got a double din head unit that also came with a reverse camera.

My question is, what's the simplest way to wire this up? The actual connections that's needed are very simple, 2 wires to the reverse light positive / negative, then a wire to the front that goes into the stereo.

Now I'm guessing there must be some sort of switch at the gear stick which turns the power into the reverse light in the back? can anyone confirm?

Or is it easier to tap into the light cluster at the back? I'm guessing that takes some clever routing up through the roof then down into the lights?

Let me know your thoughts :)

The signal (+12v) comes from the gear selector, it goes to the dashboard, the back of the radio and also to the reversing light at the back of the vehicle, you can pick it up where ever is convenient but the normal place is the radio as all the rest of the wiring goes to the back of the radio, which is why on the standard ISO connector it has its own pin ISO A3.
