IAT sensor resistance values

Post by gilly99 » Wed Sep 27, 2023 9:53 pm

Hi, hoping somebody can help.

Error code P1114 (Intake Air Temperature 2 Circuit Low Input), amongst others and have occasional limp mode, so been chasing around eliminating possible faults. After some moves under the bongo that a contortionist would be proud of I found the IAT sensor 18-845 in the intake, removed and tested. At room temperature reading about 15k ohms, heated up to about 50deg C and not much change, maybe dropped to 12k. Not convinced its faulty, so whipped out the scavenger sensor from centre console, and got very similar readings. The fan kicks in perfectly, ie hardly ever, on a hot day or in traffic, so pretty sure that sensor is working fine.

Tested the wiring, and its a standard 4.7v feed to the sensors, so was expecting sort of 35k ohm at room temperature dropping to say 10k at ~60Deg, but these sensors seem to not be in that range. Multimeter seems OK. Can't convince myself to spend £30 on a new sensor. as suspecting this maybe yet another bongoism?? Anybody have an idea of the nominal readings for these sensors??
