Hi Guys had my bongo for 5 years now and never changed down gear in the automatic bongo, never had to, but I will be travelling up and down steep hills with a trailer, can I shift from drive to 2nd or 1st while moving, I know may sound daft but I honestly don't know.

Yes, and use the Hold as required, only thing not recommended is using Hold when travelling at speed!
