Is this solid enough - rust question

Post by kton2002 » Thu May 04, 2023 3:59 pm

Hi all, am potentially going to look at a Bongo, but am really not sure what is acceptable in terms of corrosion on the arches (not had any pics of underneath but MOT history is good with no rust advisories). Am i expecting too much though from a 20 x year old van? Pics attached (hope it works!)

could be the pics or my eyes but 1st pic bottom edge looks a tad like fibre glass raggy edge, have you had a wander with a simple little magnet.

Thanks, i thought that too. Looks like there's blue over spray as well in the arch. Front arches have those chrome covers on as well, so not been able to get any idea on those ones.

The inside of the arches originally had spot welds all around the underside of the arch, every 6 inch or so.

Have a go with the magnet, it may show you how little there is or other.
