Battery power problems

Post by Jules66 » Tue Oct 11, 2022 8:15 pm

Hi
My van has a leisure battery plus another battery inside with a trickle feed as well
I took it out for the first time last weekend and had EHU
The 12v connection for the fridge worked so did the cabin lights and phone charger but the 240v sockets only worked for a while
I am confused as to what I was using as I was hooked up as well
We managed to boil the kettle a few times but then nothing. Even with EHU
On top of that yesterday the main battery light came on the dash
Is these problems all connected?
If the main van battery is no good will this effect the other batteries etc
I am getting a new battery and alternator put on this week
Thanks
Sorry if this is confusing it’s all so confusing to me to

All conversions are different especially in the way that power is provided around the van, not all converters have a good understanding of either electrical items or actually using vans for camping! Hence every vehicle seems to be different ..... :-(

As to the Charge lamp this doesn't show battery status it lights when the alternator is NOT charging the battery, so if you had the Ignition on then the Charge light will be lit as the engine isn't running and spinning the alternator.

It sounds like you may have an inverter and were using power from the 12v battery as opposed to the hook up.

Can you trace the 240v wiring and see where it goes? Sometimes these just go to standalone sockets after the fuse box, so will not charge the 12v system. If there's a battery charger connected from the 240v setup to the leisure battery, then your 12v system can be powered by shore power.
