That's really useful. Thank you.
The Bongo was only purchased in February and it was as an import, so that should explain why it has green coolant.
I was wondering why I shouldn't just add some new green coolant, but having had a little Google search I gather that the one thing you really mustn't do is mix coolants and that the only way you can guarantee this is buy flushing out the system and replacing with a known coolant/colour.
Is this why you are suggesting to top up with some water rather than some newly bought green coolant?

I've always used (green) ethylene glycol antifreeze. Although it needs changing more often it strikes me as a simpler proposition and probably what my system was designed to have in it.

The colour of the coolant isn't important, it's the chemical makeup, it needs to an OAT based coolant , these are specifically designed for these engines that contain dissimilar metals including the entire coolant system.

I think colour might just be there to help identify type of coolant? As far as I can tell mine has had ethylene glycol coolant in it all its life. Certainly did when i bought it and so I've just stuck with that. If this post is to be believed, its what a 1995 Ford Ranger engine might have used.Northern Bongolow wrote: Fri Nov 29, 2019 9:01 pm The colour of the coolant isn't important, it's the chemical makeup, it needs to an OAT based coolant , these are specifically designed for these engines that contain dissimilar metals including the entire coolant system.
