Headlights go off when stationary

Post by Philfish » Wed Nov 21, 2018 2:56 pm

I have been bongo owner for 15 months and only just noticed that my headlights turn off a sidelights stay on when I have come to a stop. They come back on immediately I set off driving again. Is this a regular bongo feature or have I got an after market add on?

Its a common after market addition in Japan, you probably have a little box on the dashboard far right with a sensor upfront and an adjustment ?

Thanks a lot. I do have a little box and it switches on sidelights when darkness or tunnels approach. Didn't know it had this other function. Thanks again.

Auto lights on in darkness or tunnels sounds great, not sure if I’d like them turned off when stationary- like at traffic lights or junctions or do they just turn off when you turn the engine off?

Drove to south of France last year overnight, but only stopped once for a sleep. Also, don't usually drive at night. Two days ago I set off at 7:30 in morning and put lights on and noticed when I got into traffic. Side lights obviously stay on so I suppose I can cope. Thanks for the reply.

I was given to understand it was a Japanese curtsy thing, to save blinding the driver in front of you when in a queue.

And people who think rear fog lights are 'rain lights'.

Visibility is bad enough to require them, (and blind everyone else) but good enough to keep driving at 70+.
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

And, as i found out the other night while walking a shared pedestrian/cycleway alongside the canal the other night, some of the worst offenders now are cyclists (with headlights more powerful than a car :-( )
