Sliding door motor issue?
Didn't realise until my mate brought their Bongo round that the sliding door had an electric soft closure feature.
Mine doesn't function at present.
Can somebody point me in the right direction regarding a fix please.
It's a 98 2.5 model.
Thank you

Re: Sliding door motor issue?
First thing to try is clean the contacts on the door and pillar.

Re: Sliding door motor issue?
All contacts cleaned still not working sadly.
No motor sound whatsoever on closure.
Any other thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated.
Thank you

Re: Sliding door motor issue?
If there's no motor sound at all, it would suggest its not getting power, I'd check the fuse for it first, in the fuse box it is a 15a fuse, on the bottom row of 4 fuses on the left, and if thats ok then i'd be looking into the the door itself, take off the inner panel and it could just be a connection has came off or loose. Or worst case scenario, the motor is gubbed but i hope its just the fuse. good luck

They don't all have the soft close feature do they?
I've always assumed mine is slam-o-matic! Great when you need a pee on site at 3am

Re: Sliding door motor issue?
You are probably correct it could be an optional extra, but I would imagine if the contact assy is present that function would be installed.Markas wrote: Tue May 22, 2018 8:55 pm They don't all have the soft close feature do they?

Re: Sliding door motor issue?
There is a contact assembly on the B post with some round brass contacts. I thought that was for the door open warning light - may be having a poke around sometime!teenmal wrote: Tue May 22, 2018 10:09 pmYou are probably correct it could be an optional extra, but I would imagine if the contact assy is present that function would be installed.Markas wrote: Tue May 22, 2018 8:55 pm They don't all have the soft close feature do they?

Re: Sliding door motor issue?
Door open switch is at the rear of the door "C" pillar, down low activated as the back of the door swings in. The front contacts are three for closing and two (recessed) for door lock.

Re: Sliding door motor issue?
All contacts cleaned up , fuses checked all fine .
Switch on C pillar is free and moves in and out when i press it .
I presume its time to remove the sliding door panel and investigate further.
Can anybody indicate what i should be looking for please?
Will I need to remove the circlip off the door handle or can i just lift the panel to examine the motor area?
Thanks again for all your help .

Re: Sliding door motor issue?
You need to remove the door handle, hence removing the clip at the rear, before the door card can be removed.
