Windscreen crack !!

Post by yorkshirelass » Sun Mar 11, 2018 10:34 am

Probably a daft question.....but am a bit unsure. My front windscreen was hit by grit from a passing gritter . The crack is now getting longer..aiming towards the middle of the screen. Should I get this done ASAP now or could it wait another few days/ week, as my lovely old dog Chip is very poorly and has very limited time left, and as I live ou5 in the sticks, I need my van for the inevitable. Also, if I need to get this done now ..ish, can it be done in one day ? When I broke my rear screen last year ( long story ) it took a few days to sort as it had to come from somewhere in the south, and they were not quick ! What do I do ???

If you are going down the Insurance route contact them and stress that you cant drive the vehicle due to safety reasons.
Normally the Windscreen Company will do a home/work visit and fit the screen ,it should only take 1~2 hrs.
A wee tip , check round the windscreen body aperture for rust.

Bad luck Pam, and it's really tough when a close family member has to leave you. :(

Might be worth looking at some of these DiY tips:

Thanks bob , it’s not the best situation at the moment love. I’ve decided I cannot be bothered with a repair of any sort, so h@ve contacted a firm that will come to my home, when he’s sourced glass for a bongo !

Also teenmal....thanks for your suggestions, but new is best just now.
