Hi.
Our Bongo is a diesel year 2000, 4wd (not sure if that will make a difference)
I would like to end up with a couple of holes in the rear of the Bongo's floor, roughly a third of the way across from the sliding door and around 60 cms away from the rear of the front passenger seat.
The purpose is to fit captive nuts so I can clamp things down and then cover the holes when not in use. The design needs to be strong.
Can I just merrily drill away and then fit a plate which would hold the captive nuts to the underside of the floor, rustproofing as I go or is it not that straight forward?
I'm not even sure what's under the floor in the back - does it go to the outside world or is their another skin of metal and maybe a gap between this and the floor?
Thanks for your help,
Tony

Dont put a drill anywhere near it till you have checked what’s underneath where you are drilling , the fuel tank is the first thing that springs to mind under the floor that could get caught in the crossfire.

There's this kind of thing which attatches to the seat rail:

shouldnt be a problem but do be careful, that area is generally ok, fuel tank as said above, fuel lines and wiring to the gearbox. the rear heater pipes go over the top of the front of the gearbox so watch out for these.
just a thought but dont know how your rear is set up, most peeps avoid extra holes and utilise the seat sliders or mounting points, even if your seats are out the mounting points for the sliders even if sliders are removed are usually there, these are strong enough to mount the seats so maybe ok for your needs.

We have removed our rear seats and I have replaced the bolts holding the seats onto the rails with ring bolts. (These are used in rally cars to clip the seat belts onto so way above spec required). I have a "cargo net" and carabiners (proper climbing ones) to hold things in place. Works well and really comfortable with it. You could search on ebay for them - Seat Belt Harness Eye Bolts Long 50mm x4 Race Car Rally Car Off-Road 4x4 Trials.
