Working Christmas for Mango Bongo - carted a large sofa from Manchester to Leeds and carting family back. What a versatile beast :-)

Some brave soul had... saw a 51 plated Aero in Mayrhofen (Austrian Tyrol) on Boxing Day! Anyone on here?

Just back from 6 days in Cornwall, 4 on a posh site with wonderful facilities, then 2 on pub car parks with no facilities! Feeling really chilled (!) now and hopefully my blood pressure is back under control.

Recommend Carnon Downs Caravan & Camping Park, between Truro and Falmouth for comfort, although I had to ask to be moved after the first night when I nearly lost the quechua in the wind - only didn't because I packed it away at 2am! Even with rock pegs on hardstanding, the wind was lifting it up!

Roof down every night!

Walks along beaches and hard trails - too wet and muddy for bridleways.

Final night in the Exe Valley (sheltered) where I managed to keep the roof up until 12:20 am! One big gust of wind along the valley, roof down. That was the last gust though!

Lovely and snug in the bongo with the Eberspacher and chocolate lab as an excellent hot water bottle that never loses its heat!

Will defo do it again next year. Beats staying at home every time.

Happy New Year Jilly,
Sounds like a great adventure, a large dog does make a great hot water bottle :)
Have you tried adding storm straps to your awning? They're spring loaded so high winds stretch the springs instead of ripping the lot out the ground. With a drive-away you need 2 sets.

We managed only the one night over Christmas. Went down to Portesham near Chesil beach (porteshamdairyfarm.co.uk). Nice enough campsite, perfect for a winter break as facilities were more than adequate and the owner was very friendly. Had a meal in the Kings Arms over the road in Portesham which was a very nice pub indeed (good selection of gins, whiskey and beer).

Took a stroll along Studland bay which was as beautiful as ever and a bit quieter than the summer.

More importantly, managed to get two fellow bongo-owners to flash/windscreen wipe back at me on the way. If it was you then 'Hi!'
