Fuses

Post by MalcW » Mon Jun 05, 2017 11:53 am

Hi All

I've found that all of the fuses by the driver's door are really tight; by tight I mean I can't remove any of them using the little tweezer thingy that sits in the fuse board. Is this normal? Should I get something more substantial, pulling each one out in turn and cleaning them up? I wouldn't like to be out and about one day and need to change a fuse, only to find it isn't possible!

Cheers,

Malc

Assuming you are talking about the fuses inside by the drivers right knee.
They do feel a bit stiff especially if they have not budged for a while. They are only held in place by friction.

Hi Chris

Those are the ones, yes. On other vehicles in the past I've been able to remove fuses relatively easily, but these seem extra tight. It all started when I was looking for a suitable power supply to a low coolant alarm - which is fitted now but still not powered.

Cheers,

I wonder if a quick squirt of contact cleaner would help. :)
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

Malcolm, you may need to give them a wee wiggle first (not too much).

How Old is your vehicle.

Good Luck.

If they're that tight then they're probably also really tarnished and mucky. For the price of a few fuses I'd probably just replace them, who could be bothered to clean fuses.
