Drivers door broken - internal mechanism

Post by Womble » Sat May 06, 2017 3:42 pm

My Bongo (2002 2.5V6) has had an issue with the driver door for a while.. basically I can't open it from the inside and the only way to get out is to roll down the window and open the handle from outside. (or shimmy over the passengers seat etc.)
Anyway this of course is a MOT failure (which it failed this today). The garage said that they can't fix it as it's not just a case of something coming lose inside and it needs a new internal mechanism replaced. They also said they weren't sure they'd be able to get the part (their parts shop was closed today but they will try again Monday).
They suggested I'd probably have better luck getting a 2nd hand part somewhere eg ebay etc. (or specialist shop). I can't find any thing that looks like this in Ian's shop but wondered if anyone else had has this happen and what part I should be actually looking for on Ebay?

Womble, has the door card been removed to ascertain the fault?, the common problem is a broken securing clip that holds the operating rod from the door handle to the door lock.

Your garage should be able to tell you exactly what you need if they have had the door card off.?
