Rx8 18" wheels on a bongo

Post by Merlot man » Fri Mar 24, 2017 9:16 pm

Hello all
I'm considering fitting these wheels to my 95 TD 4wd and was wondering if they are strong enough for the bongo fully converted .
I understand that they will fit the hobs etc and I really think they look great on the bus ! \:D/
As always all advice and help is greatly appreciated .

someone i know cracked 3 different rims, they had quite a low profile tyre on em and they did a fair bit of rural daily commutes, if your roads are like the rest of britain i would think twice.

Brian's in Ireland, likely roads of a much better standard.
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

Off topic I know but I always thought the idea of alloys was to lessen the unsprung weight.
Bongo original wheels are ?loody heavy as are quite a number of other vehicles.
The steels are much lighter.
Have we lost the plot with alloys?

I lost the plot years ago (and not just about alloys). Ditch my alloys!?! - I'd rather shove wasps up my Bongos tailpipe

Oh ya Bob ,roads here are just fantastic!!.............NOT
I've heard of a few of these cracking all right NB so I'm a bit wary .
I don't mind fitting higher profile tyres but how will that effect the 4wd system ? IE larger rolling circumference , I don't want this to eat up diffs ,transfer box, gearbox etc
As for being heavy I think the steel wheels are very heavy but I'm coming from MX5 's with light weight enki and BBS wheels
I'm considering the rx8 wheels as they are plentiful , cheap, look great on the bongo and , being Oem , the quality should be first class .
Mine at the minute have cheap hub caps on , two of which I've lost  what do the original hub caps look like and where can I get a set of those ? This might very well be an option for me .( alloys look good though )
Thanks in advance

I have a set of steels also and got some nice gunmetal grey halfords pretend alloy trims that look good on them - much better than the dull original hubcaps
