Ignition switched live supply

Post by weebrian » Wed Dec 30, 2015 1:28 pm

Before I strip out the cab courtesy lights, can anyone tell me whether there is a switched live to the lighting cluster? I just need a feed for my traffic cam and this seems an obvious place if there is a supply there.

I would have thought the supply to the cab light was live, not switched.

I just ran the wire around the windscreen trim, down the A pillar and behind the binacle. Can't quite remember where I wired it in but you can now get 'Piggy Back' fuse holders.
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

Which cluster, cab lights? They run off an unswitched supply (Fuse 1, top left by knee). http://www.g8dhe.net/bwm/bwmanualp.htm?1995/Page_102

I have used a feed from either fuse 9 or 10 for a switched feed.

My dash cam has a switched live and a permentant live and neutral. With my unit, because it switches off when the battery gets to a certain level to prevent battery drain, it uses the switched live to turn the unit back on when the engine is started.
