BONGO STILL USING OIL

Post by bongogreenride » Wed Sep 02, 2015 9:41 am

In 2014 new cylinder head was done on Bongo 2.5.
Then a new re conned turbo was fitted.
The fuel-diesel consumption was better, and more poke in the engine.
Things were being monitored.
Bongo is still using oil BUT LESS THAN BEFORE. On a 120 mile run it is down a quater of a pint.
The exhaust deposits are black and a bit oily now.

NOTES:- before head done Bongo did not use oil. Gasket was leaking that is why head was removed, and when inspected -compression tested hair lline crack was observed.
Turbo was replaced because seals were knackered. Thought this was reason for using oil.

Mechanic says no visible wear on the bores in the block
Pleeeeeease..any suggestions as to where I can investigate now folks [-o<

Its been known for the seal /o ring between the head and block to be mistakenly left out (or not renewed)during a head/gasket replacement.

Your mechanic should be able to do a couple of tests that will prove that it is or not an internal (to cylinder)leak.

Good Luck.
