No washers front or back

Post by spud350 » Sat Jul 11, 2015 12:57 pm

For whatever reason the washers have stopped working front and rear. Wipers still work and no fuses have blown. Taken the washer bottle off and tested the motors which are OK. The plug connectors are somewhat corroded but there is no voltage at all at either of them. I assume at this point it's the switch but after taking the cowl off there isn't much to see apart from some small wires disappearing into the back of the wheel.
Any pointers appreciated. :-k

Cheers Spud.

There will be no voltage at the motors maybe until the switch is operated. Get someone to operate it then test for 12v.

Did that, no voltage. I've traced the wires at the switch (Brown and Yellow) they go though a big terminal block and magically turn into (White/Purple and Orange) I mean why wouldn't they. Anyway, I have continuity from that block to the motor connector block. This all points to the switch but I've never known one fail instantly, they normally go intermittent 1st. What a complete pain in the backside. It doesn't look the easiest thing to change, and I'm not 100% convinced it's that. ](*,)

as most switches switch the neg try fitting a neg wire to the wire before the switch, this will illminate the switch side. or just earth the terminal block at the washer motor.

Well good or bad they are working again. Maybe a bad connection on a connector or something. The only problem for me is that looking at the wiring diagram the front and rear are independent of each other so why would they both work then both not?
