Jeebers hadn't thought it was that bad. It rained here saturday but more of a light drizzle. Yesterday was mild with one or two showers and a bit breezy. So i felt a bit sad not being there. Trish and me took it easy - still trying to shake off something that started at Tackeroo, and Trish now has it. It would have a Very Bad Idea being out in that Lakeland weather by the sound of it. Such a shame though. To get out of the house, and prompted by having to cancel this weekend, we went and looked at some Hiace imports, as i wondered if i might one day get something like that for us as being big enough to do everything in when bad weather strikes. I liked them but Trish is not ready to move on from the Bongo. And let's face it, they're not such a compact everyday drive (and it would be my only car). Interesting technique getting in and out of the cab too, with ageing joints.
I hope Jo might do another meet later in the year - Trish and me will try and make it if so, as we really enjoyed last years. And hope to see Pete and other old friends soon.
Mike and Trish. xx

To be honest I was more chuffed with the photo of Heysham Power Stn.According to Google Maps, Allithwaite is roughly 12 kilometers as the crow flies from Heysham

You are telling me Brian. When my pal from the Middle East was here last September I got bored watching his rehabilitation from a stroke in the local gym and decided to join him on the treadmills etc everyday. You're right there Brian Old age is a bugger
Big mistake. I thought that I was reasonably fit after doing the cross bay walk and climbing the odd mountain. But it seems that you use different muscles on these infernal machines. My leg muscles seized up and I began to have a hell of a job pressing down hard enough and quick enough on the clutch to change the gears on my manual Jeep Cherokee. Back to normal now thank god, but it took a few months.
