Wheels in progress

Been wanting this done for a while, RX8's hydro dipped in silver carbon over black then laquered with 2 coats of clear then 1 coat of tinted black laquer. Well pleased. Luckily I borrowed a set of wheels of a mate then will give him mine after I have fitted these.

Some of the designs are brilliant .. and a lot more complex to do than a simple wheel or a cars trim..

But you'd only see the head of the nail when it's been hammered in.

my local tyre monkey would struggle to fit them without wrecking them tough.

Hi Mark, it's a local lad next to me called Barry Morton he is on facebook and posts pics of stuff he's done. He just does it in his spare time for a bit extra money. He let me have a try on a bit of Micra dash, not as easy as it looks.

I'm fitting the tyres back on myself and not looking forward to it. Lots of tyre soap I think and brute strength.

Hi Mitch, I have paid £15 each wheel just to dip them, I refurbed and painted the wheels ready to be dipped, they have to be painted in solvent basecoat ready to dip and ideally not too long after painting. I then took them and lacquered them myself. Talking to the lad he would do a set of wheels for about £60 per wheel if they are in good nick. Not much more than a normal wheel refurb cost.

if I had known that was around 65 quid each - I think I would have had them done

my refurb set were 240pounds - but did include swapping tyres and rebalancing etc

drove 200 plus miles to do the swap

my new ones were still warm from the oven

I do like that carbon look

stuc - I recon you need to start grabbing a load of spares

get them carboned

and then offer a swap and fee
